Side effects of estrogen blockers

Hi, I'm Pat
Pat

I took Anastrazole for 18 months then switched to Exemestane because of the weight gain, tiredness and general malaise that were side affects of Anaztrazole. I feel better with Exemestane, but the weight won’t go away and now my hair is thinning. Is anyone else having these problems? Does anyone recommend anything specifically? I have 3 more years of these pills………………..

Hi, I'm Georgiamom

Started Tamoxifen and they stopped it because I was developing endometrial polyps and switched me to Letrozole. Since I have osteopenia I have to take Boniva now as well. My weight loss has stopped (even though I only eat 1000 calories per day and exercise twice daily) and my hair is thinning. I have muscle aches and headaches. I have 4.5 more years. This is very frustrating.

Hi, I'm Pat

These drugs are confusing. I saw an ad on TV for a drug that is supposed to slow the progression of metastatic breast cancer. The add proclaimed that it worked better than Letrozole. ???? I have a friend who does NOT have MBC but is taking Letrozole. Maybe Letrozole is too harsh (probably not a good word). I’m going to ask my doctor about this.

Hi, I'm Ruth A P.

I have been on Anastrozole since July, 2018. My knees ache a little but otherwise I do not have any other side effects. To post #1, try a hair, nails and skin supplement. The dietitian at my cancer center recommended this to help me with my nails after my nail beds got infected from the Taxol treatments I had. I also have osteopenia and get the shot Prolia to help improve my bone density. Ruth

Hi, I'm Debbie B.

I’m starting Anastrozole in a few days. All of the potential side effects are making me very nervous. Can anyone talk me off the ledge?

Hi, I'm Betti

I was on Letrozole for 5 years and stopped it last year after 5, had a special test to see if I would or would not benefit by another 5 years as right now they are finding 10 years is better.

Hi, I'm PAMELA C.

I was on letrozole for 5 years and was blessed to not suffer from any of the side effects. After being off it for 1 1/2 years I had a recurrence which required a mastectomy and chemo. I am now on exemestane with no side effects. I am an advocate for the 10 years which was not an option at the first diagnosis but I again I have not had the debilitating side effects.

Hi, I'm ARSHIYA S M.

Can we write our age too while discussing, i think that will be better to relate with age groups. I think age does matter in having any side affects.
Im 41 got diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer, had surgery it will went really well. Gonna start tamoxifen after radiation. Heard about quite few side affects, hoping not to be too bad. Any positive thoughts on tamoxifen? May God help us all heal faster and strengthen our hopes.

Hi, I'm Shahana

I’m 47 and 7 years cancer-free. I was on Tamoxifen for 6 years, then was switched to Letrazole when I became perimenopausal. I didn’t have side effects from Tamoxifen except for hot flashes if I didn’t take it every day. Letrazole and/or being perimenopausal has caused increased appetite and weight gain and fatigue, which is likely due to not feeling rested because the hot flashes wake me up at night. General malaise is a good way to put it, lol. I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, so I’ve had hair loss for years. I use Rogaine for women. I take a multivitamin for women that strengthens my nails (not related to cancer).

Hi, I'm Kathy K.

I am 61 and have been on Anastrozole for 2 months and have been having some confusion. My children notice it first and then there have been incidents that I actually noticed which scared me. Has anyone else had this issue. I’m pretty sure that I’m going to come off of it.
