Living Hopeful
Living with cancer
Added Feb 16, 2022I am 75 years old married 51 years so far. Have 4 children and 15 grandchildren. Cancer has been with me since 2017 . I have breast and liver cancer and it will be with me until I die. I love the care I receive every three weeks and know it is sustaining me. I would love to hear from others who are also carrying cancer for the rest of their life…

I am blessed to have little or no side-effects of chemo
Living with cancer
Added Jun 30, 2017During 3rd week after 1st chemo treatment my hair significantly started to come out; at 75 yrs. my wife still calls me the “silver fox” despite the extreme thinning; however, I’m confident the hair will return and I can resume as my wife’s hunk; I was told to take Claritan to help eliminate or reduce side-effects—-IT WORKS! No more headaches…

Post hemicolectomy diet
Living with cancer
Added Mar 20, 2017I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon CA. In 2015. Had surgery and 6 months of chemo which ended last April. My digestion just hasn’t worked right since. I have constipation, diarrhea, and nausea at least 3 days a week. I’ve pretty much eliminated dairy and wonder where to go from here. Would love to hear from anyone else with this problem.

Not allowing cancer to define me
Living with cancer
Added Mar 28, 2015I found this hard to do, that is all people ask about once they found out. I allowed it to cause me to be a bit of a recluse and to hid out in my home. I have came to the understanding that it doesn’t matter if cancer is the end result of my time in the physical world, but what I do on a daily bases with what time I have left in the physical …

Cancer - The Secret Change
Living with cancerThis article, so very well written by a practicing oncologist, is superb! Dr. Salwitz truly captures the feelings that I (and probably thousands of other cancer patients) have. Cancer does suck! My cancer is rare. It grows slowly, but it grows. I do not “look like I have cancer.” I hear so often,“You really look great.” The problem is I …

I have been doing most of my recovery effort on my own and a little help from friends. As of January 27, 2014, I have a permanent colostomy. My life adjustment has been a little rocky, leaking bags, one actually came off in my sleep, concealment, noi…

It is what it is. Might as well find some humor in your journey.
Living with cancer
Updated Oct 26, 2013I was diagnosed last February (2013) with stage IV lung cancer. A shock to me, needless to say, as a non-smoker. Unless of course you count those funny things I smoked back in college 40 years ago.
Besides the support of family and friends, I have found keeping my sense of humor throughout my journey has been the best medicine, other than the…
